The only free traffic strategy I’ll give my time up for

If you’ve been reading The Aussie Hermit’s emails for any length of time, you know I don’t do the “free traffic” strategies.

The reason being, they take up way too much of my precious time.

Time that could be better spent drinking scotch, trawling through conspiracy theory forums, or building a bigger tin-foil hat.

(Maybe with my kids too, I guess).

Either way, they take too long.

However, there is one organic strategy I will give up my time for.

And, it’s a strategy that gets you the warmest subscribers you’ve ever had on your list.

In fact…

So warm are these subscribers that they’re even easier to close than a referral.

That strategy?

Podcast interviews.

The reason?

Well, when you feature in an interview the guest brings you on to their show and edifies you to their audience.

They introduce you.

They read off your bio and talk about how amazing you are.

Then, you get to tell the listeners about your story, your system, your content and how you get results.

So by the end of that 30min-1hr interview, they see you as a huge expert.

Not even a referral will get you that type of prospect.

Yes, getting interviewed on other people’s podcasts gives you instant authority.

And, as mentioned, it’s a great way to get super hot email subscribers that want to work with you.

For example…

All you do at the end of your interview is promote your free lead magnet (or whatever you use to build your list).

Tell them to go to that link for your free gift, and watch how you get leads from each show you do.

Note: Podcast interviews typically won’t get you a ton of leads per interview. But again, it doesn’t really matter because they are even warmer than referrals.

So that means it doesn’t take many emails after they’ve opted in to get them on the phone and signing up with you.

More:

Because it’s so effective, I teach the above strategy to many of my clients.

However, they often get stuck on how to get more interviews. Especially the beginner Coaches.

So I tell them there are 2 main ways…

1. You can hustle.

That means you have to reach out to 10-20 podcasters per day enquiring whether they’re looking for interviews or not.

This method works, but it’s like a snowball.

It’s small and then it builds and builds.

So don’t expect a lot of response in the beginning. But as you get interviews they will lead to more interviews, which lead to more interviews etc.

2. You can ask your list

There are many benefits to having your own list (“clients on demand” being the main one).

But one of the lesser known ones is getting interviews.

Simply send out an email and offer yourself for an interview.

In the beginning, you may not get on huge podcasts. But that doesn’t matter.

You’ll still get leads.

And, further, you can use those smaller interviews to get on bigger ones later.

It’s that simple.

Finally…

They key with interviews is consistency.

No use doing one every 3 months and hoping it’ll get you a ton of clients.

It won’t.

You’ve got to be doing 3 or so every week. And if you do that, you’ll get a really good flow of extremely warm leads coming onto your list.

Once those leads are on your list, you still need to convert them.

How to turn your daily crap into daily clients

A while back Apple released a new feature on their phones to track your activity.

It’s called, “Screen Time.”

And, at the end of the week, it gives you a breakdown of exactly how much time you spent on social media and certain apps.

It’s pretty eye opening the first time you get that report.

I remember the first time I got it it said I’d spent over 5 hours that week on Instagram alone.

That’s a lot of time wasting.

And pretty scary when you think about it.

I remember back when I was struggling for clients in London I’d often waste a lot of time on social media.

Time I didn’t have to waste.

And yet, because I was overwhelmed, paralysed, stuck on what to do – I’d find myself mindlessly scrolling to escape.

The good news is, I don’t go on Instagram and other platforms as much now.

Part of that is because of Apple’s Screen Time app.

The other part is because I have 2 young kids and the only time The Aussie Hermit can get on my phone is when I take a crap.

Here’s the truth though…

I probably shouldn’t be spending any time on it at all.

And if you know you’re the same, I want to give a tip right now to make your phone (and poopin’) time far more productive.

The next time you pull out your mobile on the loo, instead of going straight to Insta or Facebook or for us conspiracy theorists – Telegram – open up your notes app and write an email.

Even if you don’t get the whole email done, at least you’ll have the beginning of one.

Then, when you have the time that day or next morning, you can finish it off and send it out.

This would be a far more productive (and profitable) way to use your phone.

And a very time efficient way to get clients.

With that being said…
