Stop coaching on your sales calls

For the past few weeks, The Aussie Hermit has been reviewing sales call recordings for one of his clients.

We were bringing him a ton of appointments…

But he had trouble closing new clients.

Before I even hit play on the first recording, I noticed something was off:

These recordings spanned between 1:45 to over 2 hours each.

For context, a sales call should run no longer than 45 minutes.

An hour at most.

Otherwise, you’re doing something wrong.

Now, can you guess what my client did wrong in these calls?

I had a hunch he was coaching his prospects on these calls.

Turns out, I was right.

And this approach was costing him the sale more often than not.

Because every time you speak on a sales call — other than asking questions…

You’re risking the sale.

Why?

Giving advice on a sales call can go one of two ways:

One:

Your prospect likes what they hear.

No harm done.

Two:

Your prospect has already tried your suggestion.

Now you’ve eroded their trust by suggesting something that isn’t new to them.

But what about toward the end of a call?

When you’re giving a high-level overview and pitching your program?

At that point, of course, you must speak.

But you can still come across the same pitfalls if you’re not careful.

I reveal how to avoid those pitfalls and increase your chances of closing in episode #250 of The 15 Minute Client Podcast.
