Why more free content won't help you get clients
Strap yourself in my young Hermite.
You're about to discover why the free content you give away can often REPEL clients.
It all started when The Aussie Hermit was scrolling through Facebook and saw an ad by a famous expert you almost certainly know. And on this ad? Why it was a terrible piece of advice (a terrible piece of advice continually promoted by many gurus in the industry, I might add).
That piece of advice?
"As long as you give tons and tons of value for free, everything will work out in the end."
The Aussie Hermit calls BS!
Here’s why…
If all Coaches and Consultants needed to do was provide more free content, there'd be a lot more wealthy Coaches and Consultants, wouldn’t you agree?
That’s all Coaches and Consultants seem to do!
Every day the vast majority bust their butts for hours on end creating free content for… social media posts, blog posts, podcasts, videos, workshops, articles etc. etc. And yet, most struggle to make even $3,000/mo!
And this guru is saying you need to provide MORE free value?
Ha!
If that’s what you want to do, good luck to you.
But that’s not what The Aussie Hermit wants.
Not anymore.
I did that for years and barely made minimum wage!
Now I follow a much more strategic approach to attract clients.
An approach where I create one piece of content every day.
It’s free.
It takes me just 15 minutes to get done.
And it nets me a consistent flow of clients.
That content?
A daily email.
See, with this approach I’m not just putting random stuff out there “hoping and praying” people will read it, pick up the phone and want to work with me.
No.
I send this email each day because I know it gets in front of my “low-hanging fruit” prospects.
AKA: my list.
And because of that, I know the effort I go to create this email will be read by the right prospects.
Prospects that are looking for help now.
And prospects that know me, like me, and know that I’m an expert.
It’s very hard to identify who on social media or other places on the ol’ WWW is looking for help now (let alone position yourself as a trustworthy expert to them).
But not if they’re on your list.
If they’re on your list it means they’re actively looking for help on your topic - that’s the reason they signed up to your list, after all - and most of all…
They see you as the person that can help them.
From there, all you gotta do is present them an offer they want.
And so, that’s why my whole focus for my business is…
1.Build my list.
2.Email that list every day with an offer they want.
So simple.
So unlike any of the latest guru funnel fads.
And yet… so profitable.
